Overview
An innovative, clinically driven biotechnology organisation is seeking an Executive Medical Director with a background in Medical Oncology to support the advancement of a growing oncology pipeline.
The organisation is developing multiple small molecule assets across solid tumour indications, with several studies currently in Phase 1 and Phase 2, and select programmes progressing towards Phase 3. A scalable clinical platform has been established, enabling rapid expansion of the portfolio as new compounds enter development.
This is a highly visible role that combines strategic leadership with hands on clinical execution.
Key Responsibilities
Provide medical leadership across early and mid stage clinical development programmes in oncology (Phase 1 and Phase 2, with progression into Phase 3)
Lead the design and execution of clinical trials, including protocol development and study strategy
Actively contribute to the clinical oversight of ongoing studies, including data review and patient level assessments
Participate in and lead investigator meetings, advisory boards, and external scientific interactions
Collaborate cross functionally with clinical operations, regulatory, translational sciences, and senior leadership
Support the expansion of the clinical pipeline within a platform driven development model
Ensure clinical programmes are aligned with evolving standards of care and clinical practice in oncology
Represent the organisation externally with investigators, partners, and key opinion leaders
Candidate Profile
MD qualified with specialisation in Oncology (essential)
Minimum 4 to 5 years of experience within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry
Strong experience in early phase clinical development, particularly Phase 1 and Phase 2 oncology trials
Proven involvement in designing and delivering clinical studies
Solid understanding of clinical practice and patient management in oncology
Comfortable operating in a hands on capacity, including data review and study level involvement
Experience working with small molecule programmes is highly desirable
Ability to operate both strategically and operationally within a dynamic environment
