Our client is a well-established HEOR consultancy that supports pharmaceutical, biotech and medical technology companies with the evidence they need for reimbursement and market access. Health economics is a key growth area for the business, and they are building out the team at several levels.

The Role

This is a hands-on leadership role for a health economist who enjoys building models and is ready to take on more responsibility for projects, people and clients.

You will lead health economics projects from start to finish. That means owning the model design and build, managing timelines and budgets, and making sure that what goes to clients is technically sound and ready to use. Most of the work involves developing cost-utility and budget impact models from scratch, as well as adapting global models for local markets.

You will manage and develop more junior health economists, act as a main point of contact for clients, and increasingly contribute to proposals and new business.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and build of cost-utility, cost-effectiveness and budget impact models, from model structure through to final report

• Adapt global economic models for local HTA submissions and reimbursement needs

• Project manage multiple health economics projects, covering scope, timelines, budgets and client communication

• Work with evidence synthesis and statistics colleagues to identify and apply the right model inputs, including outputs from systematic reviews, NMA and MAIC

• Quality check models and deliverables, including technical reports, slide decks and dossier sections

• Line manage, mentor and develop junior and mid-level health economists

• Contribute to proposals, scoping and costings, and support business development

• Build strong working relationships with clients and present findings with confidence

• Contribute to publications, conference abstracts and presentations

Qualifications & Experience

• MSc or PhD in Health Economics, Economics, Epidemiology, Statistics, Public Health or a related field

• Typically 6+ years' experience in health economics, ideally in a consultancy setting

• Proven experience building cost-utility models de novo, not only adapting existing models

• Experience developing budget impact models and adapting global models for local markets

• Strong Excel modelling skills

• Experience leading projects and managing client relationships

• Experience managing or mentoring junior team members

Desirable

• Experience supporting HTA submissions in one or more major markets

• Working knowledge of R or another statistical package

• Experience using NMA or MAIC outputs in economic models

• Exposure to proposal writing and business development

• Peer-reviewed publications or conference presentations
