Market Access Consultant
New York, United States

The Job
Company Overview
Our client is a fast-growing organisation operating at the intersection of healthcare, data-driven decision making and strategic consulting. They partner with pharmaceutical, medical technology and public-sector stakeholders to support evidence generation, economic evaluation and market access planning. With an emphasis on scientific rigour, collaboration and professional development, the company offers an environment where technical excellence and innovation are genuinely valued.
Operating across multiple therapeutic areas, they continue to expand their US presence and are now seeking an experienced Value & Access Consultant to join their team in either Boston or New York.
The Role
This full-time, permanent position is ideal for someone who enjoys owning projects end to end, combining strategic market access thinking with hands-on delivery and close client contact. The Consultant will independently manage multiple Value & Access projects, from scoping through to execution, leading client communications throughout.
A key focus of the role is applying deep expertise in the global and US access landscape to lead the development of payer-focused value and reimbursement materials, health economic models, expert elicitation activities and market access strategy deliverables. Projects span multiple disease areas, so the ability to move quickly into new therapeutic areas and manage competing priorities is essential.
You will sit within the Value & Access management team, with the opportunity to shape team strategy, recruit and mentor Analysts, and build your own pipeline of work. This is an early opportunity to help shape a growing US business, supported by established operations in the UK and Asia. You will work closely with a Boston-based Team Head and Regional Director, each with 8+ years of industry experience, as well as senior colleagues across the US and globally.
Key Responsibilities
Independently manage multiple Value & Access projects end to end, from scoping and approach through to delivery
Lead the development of US and global payer-facing deliverables, including AMCP dossiers, PIE decks, value propositions, objection handlers, and cost-effectiveness and budget impact models
Lead client communications, building long-term relationships and proactively identifying further opportunities to add value
Provide strategic input on market access and pricing questions, drawing on global access drivers, payer evidence needs and the interplay between clinical, economic and policy considerations
Oversee workflows and timelines across concurrent projects, delegating effectively and supporting the wider project team
Recruit, train, line manage and mentor Analysts, providing constructive feedback and hands-on development
Contribute to proposal development and business growth, shaping strategic narratives and pitching for competitive work
Stay ahead of global and US access trends, enhancing team capability and shaping future projects
Take part in service area and company-wide management team training and discussion
Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
Minimum of 4 years' industry experience, ideally within a consulting environment or alternatively a pharmaceutical or medical device company
Strong understanding of the US payer and access landscape, with prior experience leading the development of US-focused value and access deliverables such as AMCP dossiers, PIE decks, value propositions, objection handlers, cost-effectiveness and/or budget impact models
Experience on global market access projects, including a solid understanding of global access drivers, payer evidence needs, and the interplay between clinical, economic and policy considerations
Proven track record of leading projects from initiation to completion, providing recommendations on project content and approach
Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously, adapting to changing deadlines, delegating tasks and managing the time of others effectively
A degree in a scientific discipline (minimum 3.3 GPA or equivalent)
Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to explain complex ideas and scientific data to non-experts, and to adapt your style to different audiences
An entrepreneurial approach to spotting opportunities, shaping innovative market access solutions and taking ownership of client relationships and project pipelines
An exceptionally high degree of accuracy and attention to detail, with the flexibility to respond to changing priorities and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively
Desirable:
Experience pitching for and winning competitive work, including contributing to proposal development and presenting with confidence (if coming from a consulting background)
Broader experience delivering early strategic market access and pricing projects
US payer or market research experience
Experience mentoring, line managing or supporting the development of junior colleagues
